 Aging is Awesome!

Who's excited about aging? You may actually live longer if you are. A Yale Study on aging and attitude found that those subjects with a positive attitude about aging lived 7.5 years longer than those with a negative attitude. Now, here's the clincher--the study also revealed that non-smoking, good body mass and regular exercise only extended life by 1-3 years. Since aging starts at birth and ends at death, then aging must be life itself! If aging is living, then why not do it with "elegance, grace and style?" Think of those people you know who are living life to the fullest in their later years--they are your role models. You'll likely find that they stay active, keep learning, laugh, love and maintain a strong sense of faith and optimism. Check out our new CD program, "Elegant Aging: Growing Deeper, Stronger, Wiser" which you can preview here. Also read the full article on "Elegant Aging" here.

 Gratitude Makes You Happier

In his new book entitled, "Thanks: How the New Science of Gratitude Can Make You Happier," Dr. Robert Emmons reports on eight years of research examining the benefits of gratitude. He found that grateful people have more positive emotions, life satisfaction, vitality and optimism. Not surprisingly, they also have lower levels of depression and stress. Some of his research subjects who kept a gratitude journal for three weeks achieved better sleep quality and duration, had more energy and also spent more time exercising. Others have reported greater financial success when they started keeping a gratitude journal. Give it a try--keep a gratitude journal for three weeks and see what happens. You're bound to benefit!

 The Value of Giving--for You!

Ode Magazine reports on one of the longest-running social-science studies of our time, which demonstrates that, "giving makes us happy." We have known for years that a good thing to do when you're down is to reach out and help someone. This study, and the book based on it entitled, "In The Course Of A Lifetime" examine what the authors call "generativity," which is basically described as the willingness to give to others. It shows that generous giving makes us healthier and happier throughout a lifetime that otherwise might appear difficult and filled with hardship. When you give to others, you remember the wonderful person you are. Read more about your own value in "The Artist Within You."
The Radiant Soul That Is You

"It is my hope for you that your choices will allow the beauty of your essence to come forth in its full glory. This essence that is you provides a glimpse of the divine spark that originates all life. Focus on the exquisite order and artistry of your inner and outer worlds, and you will be one of the great artists of all time. Your medium of expression is life itself, and there is a longing in each of us to see the radiant soul that is you." The stately and dignified Marguerite paused, and bowed her head slightly. Turning to her side she gestured with extended arm and open hand to all of her companions, visible now in the light of inner and outer fires.---You have just read an excerpt from my new book, "SERAI: Bringing The Children Home,"a book about how amazing you are! "Serai" is available in hardcover, softcover or Ebook format.

 The Art of Anticipation

Look forward to the life you choose. Practice the art of anticipation, and like a child before a special event, let your mind enjoy the positive possibilities that lay before you. Think of all of the good things that have happened in your life that thrilled you at the time. Look at those and say to yourself, "All this and more." Use the incredible power of your imagination and face the reality that you are creating and re-creating your life in your thoughts and emotions moment by moment, day by day. Expect the best for yourself and keep your feet planted firmly on the ground, prepared for anything. Take care of yourself and your life, and anticipate great joy and prosperity. Enhance your art of anticipation with Goodfinding Commentaries, or the Goodfinding CD program.

 Sacred Parenting

Being a parent is one of the most sacred roles you can play as a human being. Your job is not to mold or shape your child according to your wishes, fears and dreams. Your job is to welcome this totally unique being into the world with the message, "Welcome, dear one. Show me who you are, and who you were before you were born. I will do my best to help you express that which only you can bring. I am the student and you are the teacher when it comes to this journey into the life of your choosing." Sacred parenting is a beautiful balance between guiding and allowing, work and play, teaching and learning, loving and letting go.   Good Listeners, Good Friends

Aspen is a 5 year old Golden Retriever who travels with his owner Lisa Benson to a group home for boys in Newport County, Rhode Island for an activity that might surprise you. Aspen listens while the boys read. As a part of the Reading Education Assistance Dogs program, Aspen and many other canine listeners help boys learn to read like no two-legged can. The unconditional love and totally devoted attention is apparently just what these children need to help them stay focused and become good readers, opening the wonderful world of books and ideas to them for the rest of their lives. Here's to our four-legged friends!
