The Beauty And Value Of Family

Family is a blessing in so many ways. You already know about the joy of those family members that you love easily and freely, and the value there is huge. But what about those family members you have a harder time loving? Consider the possibility that their gift to you is the greatest of all. They provide you with a wonderful opportunity for growth and acceptance. Family gatherings often put you side by side with folks you otherwise would not choose to be with, and that stretches you to become more of the magnificent person you were born to be.

Of course, this is not a guarantee--you have to choose to grow, or the differences can only be another stressor in your life. Here's an approach you might find useful: Find the distance from which you can love each person. You can love some family members up close, and others require a little (or a lot) of space before the feelings of love can enter. The point is to allow love to flow, and don't expect yourself to love everyone the same. Accept yourself, and accept each member of your family, while comfortably moving to that place in your heart and on the planet where you can most easily love.

Look At All The Lovely People

They are all around you, all of the time. Good folks, quietly doing the right thing, all day every day. Now for some great examples: Ever wish that Santa Claus was real? Well, guess what...he is! In this wonderful story, you will learn just how alive the "Jolly Old Elf" is, and how you can join his team! Along the same lines, learn about Ian McKellan bringing theater to sick kids in conjunction with the Only Make Believe Foundation. These great folks facilitate the healing processes of children by activating their imaginations--imagine that!

Meanwhile, some other good-hearted folks like you have started an organization called "Be Kind To Humankind." Check out their website, and learn about Forgive Your Foe Friday and Touch A Heart Tuesday. I also strongly encourage you to watch this excellent video on ShelterBox, an organization that provides food, necessities and shelter to survivors of disasters around the world. Their website shows you what they have done, and how you can help. In this video, you will learn how a couple of real estate investors bought a house for a family that would otherwise have been homeless, and this story tells of a couple "paying it forward" in a diner, and starting a chain-reaction of generosity and giving.

  Inspiring And Playful Videos

Watch these only if you want to smile and maybe feel a quiet sense of awe. Let's start with this video of a bunch of canine friends spending a day frolicking on the beach, guaranteed to life your spirits. Many of us "grownups" are way too serious way too much of the time, and watching dogs play, run and romp can tickle that playful kid inside every one of us. Now, check out this "surfing dog" with a mission. When bird-chasing knocked Ricochet out of his role as a service dog, he learned to surf (with help from his owner). Now, he surfs as a companion to a quadriplegic boy, serving as a counter-balancing rider on the surfboard. And while we're still in the four-legged category, watch in silent awe as this woman cuddles, plays with and photographs wolves.

In case you haven't noticed, the Ukulele is becoming more and more popular. If you missed them in a previous issue of Goodfinding, be sure and check out the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain as they masterfully sing five songs at the same time--and it sounds great!
Now, get ready for a once in a life-time experience. Watch this gifted young performer as he demonstrates how to play the song, "I'm Yours" on the Ukulele, sing in a second language, and manage a very itchy nose, all at the same time. If you want to, you can save those last two videos and watch them every few days for stress release and joy enhancement. As a matter of fact, I recommend that you do exactly that!
