Get Inspired About Your Life

What if you took a few minutes or even seconds to get inspired about what you're doing before you do it? Well, one thing is for sure...you would have more fun, perform better and make fewer mistakes. You would also have more energy and enthusiasm for whatever it is you're doing. Whatever you're doing, you have good reasons for it, and when you get lined up with those good reasons, you will be more inspired and literally enjoy your life more.

What do I mean by "getting inspired"? Just this...you do what you're doing because you want to do it for the positive outcomes it will produce. Inspiration means moving forward passionately toward something you believe in.

I use the Goodfinding journaling process to help with this, and it gets me inspired at the beginning of each day. More about this later, but for now here are some inspiring videos: Nola Ochs got her bachelor's degree at 95 years old, and then recently completed her master's degree at 98. Watch her video here. Now, at the other end of the continuum, here's a one-year-old on a snowboard! And I love this video of Alondra de la Parra (somewhere in between, age-wise), a female classical music conductor who rocks!

There is goodness and greatness inside you, and when you develop a practice that consistently puts you in touch with that essence of who you are, your health and happiness will steadily improve.


Get Inspired For Every Act

Here are some methods you can use: What seems to work best is to have a routine of some kind, ideally in the morning. Once you've launched yourself into your day, it is likely to have its way with you, so I recommend you start your day by setting the stage for a fabulous day!


Here's the process:

  1. Create a private space, ideally with music, plants and your favorite morning beverage--possibly outside with morning birdsong.
  2. Build a collection of inspiring books, that uplift, encourage and inspire you.
  3. For some, this is a time to use the EmWave to relax and focus on your breathing and positive thoughts.
  4. You can also use affirmation audio CDs to comfort, soothe, relax and inspire you.
  5. Get a journal book (blank book) or use your laptop, iPad, or whatever you choose, to do the Goodfinding journaling process which re-trains your brain to look at what is good, right and working in your past, present and future.
The goal of all of this is to feel good! The better you feel, the better your brain and body will work, the kinder and more compassionate you will be, and the more efficient and successful you will be. You will be inspired to begin your day!

 
People, Art & Events To Inspire You

Let's get started with this Bill Moyers interview with author Barry Lopez. Sit back, relax, and prepare to be inspired as you hear this man say things like, "We can come to a state of grace. We can come to a state in which we do better than we're doing now. I believe fiercely in that. And I meet people in every corner of the world who affirm it."

Also enjoy these videos about the science of happiness and the eight principles of fun. For a more global and ageless inspiration, take a look at this amazing sand art from Turkey. This video about World Laughter Day will definitely bring a smile or even a guffaw, just as 5 minutes in the great outdoors can improve your mood and mental health.

And finally, if you want some good brain exercise, check out this video on how to imagine the tenth dimension and then see if you can stretch your mind to imagine a school without classes or teachers. Guess what--the kids at that school test better than their peers on the state tests and the pre-college ACT!

All of this is inspiring, and there are great people doing wonderful things all of the time all over the world. And you are one of them!
