The Power Of Observation

There is so much more to you and the world we all live in than you have ever imagined. Expanding into that uncharted territory of the "yet-to-be-imagined-you" will take you closer to the life you have always dreamed of. Science is one of the ways we explore the vast realms of human capacity and the Universe itself. With that in mind, take a moment and watch this video showing the unpredictable and mysterious behavior of matter, particles and waves (the stuff you're made of, by the way). The video is easy to understand, I promise. It's a cartoon, so watch it with your kids if you like!

One of the points in the video is how we change things just by looking at them. This reminds me of the Goodfinding byline, "What you pay attention to grows." The point here is that the power of your mental focus actually changes your reality, just as observation changed the behavior of matter in the video. More specifically to Goodfinding, the evidence is growing daily that a positive focus greatly enhances body, mind and relationships. Put all of this together, and this is what you get:
  1. Your focus of attention changes what you're looking at (physical matter is altered when it is observed).
  2. A positive focus of attention facilitates optimum functioning at a physical, mental and emotional level. (There's lots of research on this...)
  3. As the creator of your own reality, you have the ability to make everything in your life better by looking at it with love, hope, faith, gratitude, appreciation and optimism.
Take a little time and shine the light of your positive focus on your body, your mind, your relationships and your life as a whole. It's best to do this this exquisite video called, How To Be Alone. I highly recommend it!

In July, I spoke at the National Wellness Conference on the topic of Gratitude, Appreciation and Optimism: Journaling Practices To Enhance Body/Mind Wellness. Here are two excellent videos from Radio Lab. In addition to their excellent programs and podcasts, they offer Moments and Words, both powerful, moving and beautifully produced videos. I won't comment further, except to say that these videos take you into moments beyond words. And here are two more videos, both likely to bring a smile to your heart--watch Breakfast At Ginger's and this 3 year old as he recites the poem "Litany" by Billy Collins.
