See Yourself Through New Eyes

What is your habitual self-image? This is your usual way of seeing yourself that carries the self-limiting baggage from your past. Your habitual self-image is the "home" of your self-doubt, fears and insecurities. This is not who you really are, but it is your familiar way of seeing yourself. Now, think of those times when you have felt truly appreciated, acknowledged, loved and admired. What were those people seeing? That's who you really are, even though it's not your habit to appreciate yourself that way. Try this exercise:
  1. Think of the people who love and appreciate you.
  2. Now imagine the "you" that they see when they are admiring and appreciating you.
  3. Consider that this is who you really are.
  4. To help with this, try seeing yourself and your life with gratitude, appreciation and optimism.
The idea here is that the real, authentic you is far more wise, talented and beautiful than your habitual self image. Spend some time with this, and then ask yourself, "When I see and appreciate myself, who is looking?" I'll leave you to ponder that wonderful conundrum.

What Motivates You?

You know how good it feels when you're fired up, charged and highly motivated? What if you could feel like that all of the time? This amazing video shows you in a very entertaining way exactly what motivates us as human beings. Here are the three primary motivators:

  1. Autonomy--you get to be your own boss
  2. Mastery--you get a chance to excel and feel accomplished
  3. Sense of purpose--your efforts have a sense of meaning and value.

Let's take those one at a time and look at how you can get fired up about your life. Here we go:
  • Autonomy means self-governing, which is all about responsibility and freedom. This newsletter and Goodfinding is all about taking responsibility for your life so that you are free to create it the way you choose.
  • Mastery comes when you do what you love, and keep doing it. This is a direct result of creating the life you want and choose for yourself. Whether you know it or not, you have already achieved mastery in several areas! Look for those, and you'll find them.
  • A sense of purpose will automatically evolve within you as you take responsibility for creating the life you choose. This is a very personal matter, and has nothing to do with what anyone else thinks. Look for areas of your life that generate passion, and that's where you will find your purpose.
Financial freedom, meditation and emotional healing are excellent avenues to autonomy, mastery and a sense of purpose. Become your own champion, and make up your mind to be the most awesome version of yourself that you can imagine!

Now For Some Fun And Inspiration

Enjoy this beach bubbles video and these 72 ways to make someone's day. If you've ever enjoyed a Radio Flyer little red wagon, or even if you haven't, you'll love this video of a very fun couple. You may never have thought of sand sculpture as being athletic, but apparently it is! This video shows what really goes into this art form. And while we're at ocean side, let's go beneath the surface and take a look at a reef created from underwater sculptures!

This video shows what some have called "the world's best ad" showing the importance of seat belts (and love). And in the educational arena, check out this upcoming digital science textbook which will soon be available free. I love this father-son project that has won international attention - watch the video of the homemade space balloon that travels 19 miles into space and videos the whole journey! Finally, this boxing coach is giving troubled and homeless teens a real chance at life. So, what inspires and motivates you? Focus on it, find more of it and get inspired to live your life to the fullest.
