Have A Happy New You!

Start your new year with a decision to engage enthusiastically with your life. All it takes is for you to remember how much you love the people you love, and appreciate the things you appreciate. When you practice Gratitude, Appreciation and Optimism, you access and activate that part of your mind and heart that is passionate about you, and about life itself. Think about those times when you've been fully charged and fired up about what you're doing. It is possible and highly desirable to feel that energetic, enthusiastic and engaged all of the time. As a matter of fact, this is the goal of all therapy and mysticism.

Use the creative mechanism of your imagination to get in touch with this fully engaged you. As you start your day, take a moment and imagine yourself going through your day with an enthusiastic connection with all that you do, no matter how mundane or familiar it may be. Consider for a moment that this is who you really are...that your authentic self is someone who absolutely relishes life in all its diversity, contrast and color. Make a decision to have a Happy New You this year, and re-decide that every day. I think you'll like the results. And remember, what you're doing here is becoming more like the incredible person you truly are.

The Power Of Your Will Power

Never underestimate the strength and significance of your quiet determination, peaceful focus and relaxed vigilance. By focusing on something you're passionate about, you activate a power within you that is beyond what you imagine yourself to be. Consider this as an extension of the Happy New You that you are creating. Imagine yourself going through your day with quiet determination, peaceful focus and relaxed vigilance. Oh, and don't forget the happy part!

Often when we think of someone being determined, focused and vigilant, images of a serious person working very hard come to mind. However, when we add the quiet, peaceful and relaxed part, something far more attractive appears. This can be you, if it's what you want. Your imagination truly is the creative laboratory of your mind. Every great (and not-so-great) invention, business or action taken by human beings originated in the imagination. Don't let the default fear mechanism of your brain keep you stuck in a jaded, cynical view of this miraculous world. Make up your mind and focus the incredible power of your will--your intention--to the creation of an ever more vibrant, joyful self.

If you want to contemplate and be inspired about the miracle that you are, watch this 10 minute TED video about what you were up to between conception and birth. Consider that the same divinely inspired process that fueled that journey is available to you now.

Inspire Yourself To Receive And Give

Awaken the dreamer in you as you watch this video of Barbra Streisand and Jackie Evancho performing "Somewhere." The dreamer in you uses your imagination to go to beautiful places and possibilities...a "new way of living." Consider the possibility that you can have all you dream of. Here's a very humorous (and unusual) picture of determination and focus. Watch Renee Zellweger and Nicole Kidman in this video clip from the movie Cold Mountain. (Warning...a rooster meets his maker in this clip). This porcupine may not be quiet or relaxed in his eating frenzy, but he certainly is intent on his corn!

Think of the energy and enthusiasm required for these four men to keep their pickup basketball game going for 40 years, and these women over 50 running the marathon together. I think these good folks must be applying the wisdom of Thomas Edison as they defy common beliefs about aging and "slowing down." Before moving on, take a little break with three of The Beatles singing, "Ain't She Sweet."

Now enjoy this video showing the courage of kindness, and this one about the power of change. I found the next three on CNN Heroes 2011. Watch Chef Bruno feed pasta to hungry children, Derrick Kayongo providing soap to save children's lives, and Richard St. Denis providing wheelchairs for the handicapped in Mexico. This is a great example of the popularity of positive news in the mainstream media. These otherwise unsung heroes are being honored, recognized and celebrated for their generous spirits and devotion to helping. If you appreciate what you've seen and read here, that's because it reflects who you are...a generous, brilliant, creative being.
