Connect With Your Inner Brilliance

You have a brilliant mind, a magnificent soul and a noble spirit. This is your birthright as a human being, and what you do with your gifts is up to you. I'm going to suggest some things you can do right now and every day to access and utilize your gifts on a more consistent, ongoing basis. That's what Goodfinding is all about. One of the most powerful ways to connect with your inner brilliance is by practicing the Art of Appreciation.

When you activate that part of your being that sees the beauty and the goodness inside you and all around you, you are literally becoming one with the very best of who you are. The mode of Gratitude, Appreciation and Optimism raises your energy level, improves your immune function, makes you smarter, kinder and more compassionate.

Think of this Goodfinding practice as a kind of mental and emotional fitness program, where you are getting your head in the game of life. If you choose, you can see your life as an athletic event, constantly tuning your body, mind and spirit for the wonderful challenges and opportunities that lie in store for you. All of the energy and enthusiasm you want and need is right there inside you, waiting for you to tap into it and give it full expression.

Finding and Focusing On Beauty

It is all around you and within you, all of the time. The effort you make to adjust your perception and find beauty is a highly beneficial activity for you. This has nothing to do with the world's or other people's definition of beauty. You are the one who decides what is beautiful to you. Right now, just allow your eyes to drift slowly and easily around you. Wherever you are, you will probably find items that you chose for their beauty. Allow your focus to rest lightly on anything that pleases you. Remember how you felt when you first acquired the art and favorite possessions that you surround yourself with. Feel the appreciation grow within you.

Do this with a few more objects, and when you're ready, close your eyes and shift your focus to your inner world. Imagine your heart as a beautiful work of art. It is. Now scan your body and be aware of all of the subtle and powerful processes under way that keep you alive, functioning and thriving. Imagine your breath as a warm breeze blowing across your inner field of awareness. Gently allow the inner eyes of your imagination to find and appreciate the complex and beautiful configuration of your anatomy.

The more you appreciate your body, the better you will care for it. Think of how well it serves you, silently, steadily, around the clock. Allow your positive regard to drift over your organs, muscles, joints and bones, until you have bathed your entire body with the soft light of your appreciative focus. Your body will thank you for this, especially if you make it a daily practice.

Genius, Love and Beauty

A 13 year old autistic boy who is proud of his autism remembers everything (math and science related) that he has ever read or heard. When you watch this video, you'll hear his parents saying that they allowed him to do what he loved, and did not force him to do the things he wasn't good at. Be sure you do what you love in your own life. Another boy who is good with numbers is the main character in the new TV series, "Touch." When you watch this trailer, you'll see love at work there, too. Now, appreciate the genius, love and sensitive power in this prize-winning 3 minute film called The Porcelain Unicorn.

I know you will also enjoy 500 Years of Female Portraits in Western Art. Be aware of your experience of appreciation as you watch the changing images and listen to the beautiful music. Allow yourself to aspire to the greatness of this 90-year-old couple playing a piano duet, and the 105-year-old volunteer shown in this video. She lives on her own, and is totally self sufficient. Now to shift to four-leggeds, have you ever seen an "angel on a leash?" Learn about David Frei and his program by that name, as you watch this happy, uplifting video.

Let's conclude our tribute to genius, love and beauty with the following four exquisite videos that use technology brilliantly to elucidate the beauty of nature. Take a few minutes, sit back, and appreciate The Water, The Arctic Light, The Mountain and The Aurora.
