The Wisdom Of Believing In Us

What if you were a champion of humanity itself? What if you decided to start looking for, noticing and drawing attention to the goodness, ingenuity, creativity, kindness and courage in your own heart, and in your fellow inhabitants of planet Earth? No need to ignore anything, just place your primary focus on the quiet heroes of everyday life that keep things working for all of us. More and more statistics are piling up that show how we are improving as a species. Whether you believe we're getting better or not (we are...), it will help you tremendously to look for evidence of goodness in yourself and the world around you. It will lower your stress, increase your joy, expand your compassion and give you greater access to your magnificent brain. A sense of optimism about humanity and our ability to learn, grow and rise above our limitations is one of the greatest assets you could ever give to yourself.

Remember, you are truly defined by what you are for, what you believe in, and what you support. Many good, intelligent souls get caught up in defining themselves by what they are against, and what they don't like...and this is stressful and detrimental to their health and well being. We create our own reality by what we select for our all-important mental focus. By choosing to see the goodness in all of us, you help to co-create a reality that is already under way and growing.

Your Perception Guides Your Cells

You may have heard of Bruce Lipton, Ph.D. and his work in the field of epigenetics. He and other authorities in this area are discovering ways in which we actually alter our genetic and cellular patterns by the way in which we perceive our environment. Watch this one-minute video to meet Bruce Lipton, and to get an idea of his research and conclusions. If we take his idea that your perception of your environment provides leadership to your cellular patterns, and combine that with the idea of a Goodfinding focus, we find a lot of validation for the benefits of a positive perception of you and your world.

Your body has trillions of cells, which are responding to your mental focus and health practices, all day, every day. The beauty of this perspective is that it frees us from the idea of "good genes" and "bad genes," and the belief that we are helpless victims of our genetic ancestry. In this article, Lipton states, "We are masters of our genetics rather than victims of our hereditary traits. Our fate is really based on how we see the world, or on how we have been programmed to experience it." Be an inspiring, uplifting leader to your inner world, and you will be changing your genetic tendencies and your legacy for future generations.

Amazing, Inspiring & Fun

Along with our theme of believing in us, let's look at some human beings doing some incredible and sometimes inspiring things. Start with this video showing what the creators consider to be "The Most Amazing Humans In The World." I think you'll love Dancing At Jacob's Window and Theresa Andersson's version of O, Mary Don't You Weep (replay from previous newsletter--worthy of repeating). Her use of technology to enhance her music is impressive, which brings us to our next artist, Eric Whitacre. Watch this production consisting of video contributions from over 2000 participants from around the world.

Now for some inspiration, as we honor these humans standing strong in the face of their obstacles. This touching video may bring a tear or two, to the tune of "What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Stronger," and this 60 Minutes program is about Derek, an amazingly gifted and unique piano player and human being. I know you'll also enjoy these volunteers helping servicemen and this performance especially designed for autistic children and their families. Now to finish with fun and creativity, watch Mommie Rhapsody, kids learning to cook, an awesome duck race and the cat cafe.
