Check Out "A Whole New Mind"

This is absolutely the best book I've read in years! A Whole New Mind by Daniel H. Pink will take you on an amazing journey into your own inherent brilliance! In his easy-to-read and fun-to-follow how-to guide to a whole new mind, he describes what he calls the "six senses." These include 1) Design 2) Story 3) Symphony 4) Empathy 5) Play and 6) Meaning, each described in detail with resources and recommendations on how to develop your own "six senses." This book is basically a manual on how to develop and more fully utilize your right brain, the one that wasn't educated in school. Pink's prediction is that we are moving from the Information Age into the Conceptual Age, in which right brain processes will dominate business and personal realms alike. I will be referring to learnings from this book throughout this newsletter--keep reading!

How Are You Designing Your Life?

If you subscribe to the idea that you are co-creator of your life experience, then you might imagine yourself as a designer of substantial proportions. Daniel Pink tells us that students in well designed classrooms perform better academically and patients in hospital rooms with a "homey" feeling get better faster and need less pain medication. Natural lighting is a key in these well designed environments, by the way. We might conclude from this that your efforts to make your environment beautiful, comfortable and functional will make you smarter and healthier! Take a look around you. Do you make an effort to design the interior of your home, office or automobile in such a way that they are pleasing to you? The more pleased you are, the better your immune function and the better your brain will work. Thomas Moore, in his wonderful book Care of the Soul tells us that this is one of the ways that you care for your own soul--by creating beauty and comfort in your everyday life.

Love Anger and Forgiveness Post 9/11

Patty Quigley and Susan Redick were pregnant when their husbands were killed in two separate airplane crashes on the same day--September 11, 2001. They met in the aftermath, and both received government funds to compensate for their losses. They used the funds to travel to Afghanistan and help Afghani widows who lost their husbands due to conflict, and have since formed a foundation that helps widows all over the world who have suffered similar tragedies to theirs. They have turned their tragedy into a gift. This is truly a story of love, anger and forgiveness. We can only imagine what these two women went through on their emotional journey. And their forgiveness has taken the form of good works. Sometimes forgiveness can only be achieved through positive action. Read here about Dr. DeFoore's full day workshop on "Anger, Love and Forgiveness" in the December NICABM conference in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Listen to a preview of our new CD program entitled "Love, Anger and Forgiveness."

Does Your Business Have A Long Tail?

Chris Anderson, editor-in-chief of Wired magazine has a wonderful new book out entitled The Long Tail: Why The Future of Business is Selling Less of More. This book is good news for entrepreneurs and independent business people everywhere! It is basically telling us that whereas in the past 80% of the people bought only 20% (the most popular) of the products, now we are finding that among major distributors such as Amazon.com and Netflix, a whopping 98% of total products are selling on an ongoing basis. With the advent of Internet advertising and search capabilities, the more products and services you offer the better. So! Don't give up on your ideas! Make the leap, start your Internet business, develop your products, market your services online, branch out on your own and launch that company that you have been creating in that brilliant mind of yours! If you want help with this, we offer coaching services specifically designed to get you from the idea stage to implementation and success. If you don't play your music (invent your product, develop your idea) who will?

 Sacred Sexuality

Accept yourself as a sexual being. Your sexuality is not an accident or a mistake to be hidden or ashamed of. Your sexuality is a beautiful, powerful and creative energy that emanates from the core of your being all of the time. Sexuality is not part time, it is full time. Invite your sexuality into your life as a full time participant, and make it a part of your goodness. We have mistakenly pushed our sexuality into the shadows, and it has become sick from lack of the nourishment that love and wisdom brings. It is time for us to find the good in this part of our natural existence. Experiencing the positive energy of healthy sexual union through making love enhances your health, energy level and longevity. Put your sexuality in a sacred container of health and goodness where it can thrive. Preview our new CD program entitled "Sacred Sexuality" now!
